The Peanut Butter And Bacon Burger: The meaning of the word “Deliciosity”

// April 27th, 2010 // View Comments // Quickies, Restaurants

You know, I’ve had a bacon burger (lots of ‘em).  I’ve had a peanut butter burger (Bukowski’s in Boston).  But I’ve never had a peanut butter bacon burger.  Thanks to the Shake Shack, now I can.

OK, actually I’m probably just going to make one myself, but you should at least have a little feast for your eyes.

Burger Quickie: New York, New York Burger @ Boogie Burger, Indianapolis

// March 21st, 2010 // View Comments // Quickies

Another report from the field, our friend Todd sent in this little beauty from Boogie Burger in Indianapolis: a pastrami burger with a side of bacon cheese fries. As you may already know, this assortment combines nearly every food that I lust over into one mega-meal that I now dying to try. I think my heart just skipped a beat (from love, not cholesterol).

Todd’s review, pulled from the comments below:

Executive summary:
This was a seriously delicious burger & great fries. (If the fries were waffle or a little more crispy, they just might be perfect.)

Long story:
This morning, my wife announces “I’m hungry and I’m thinking bacon cheese fries.” (I love that girl!) So, I shot a quick google search for “Indy’s best bacon cheese fries”, poked around at the results a bit, and an hour later we were standing in line in a tiny little burger shop in Broad Ripple.

I went in with my mind set on the “Wild Wild West” because I’m a sucker for BBQ sauce and onion rings. But, we had plenty of time standing in line while a guy ahead of us placed what must have been the most complicated order in the history of burgers. During that time, a photo on the wall kept calling to me, the photo of the New York New York burger. Pastrami and swiss are a couple of the best things ever put between slices of bread. How could I refuse? It won me over before we got to the counter.

A short while later, we were on the slightly chilly patio (did I mention the place is tiny?) watching people stroll by, and the friendly guy behind the counter was passing a bag of full of deliciousness out through a small window and telling us to “just yell at us if you need anything.” A moment after that, I was cursing myself for not thinking about how hot the fresh onion rings probably were before I popped one in my mouth. Then, a quick photo op and I dug in…and never looked back…

In the end, one Boogie Burger, one New York New York, some cheese and bacon fries, and some mighty tasty onion rings had disappeared and I was trying to figure out when we could get back and try the Wild Wild West burger.
